Mimic Tang

A fascinating tang named for its ability to mimic the appearance of dwarf angelfish as a juvenile — a remarkable example of protective mimicry in reef fish. Adults develop a uniform chocolate-brown colouration with a distinctive orange patch near the eye. Mimic tangs are hardy, peaceful, and one of the more manageable tangs for medium-sized reef tanks, making them an underrated choice for Australian reefers.
