Moseleya Care Guide
Moseleya are a rare Australian endemic coral that holds special significance for local reefers. Found primarily on the Great Barrier Reef, these slow-growing LPS display a distinctive bumpy surface texture that sets them apart from other brain corals. Place them in the mid-section of your tank under moderate PAR (100–200 PAR) with moderate flow. They prefer stable, consistent conditions and should be positioned where parameters are most reliably maintained.
Keep water parameters at standard reef levels: alkalinity 7.5–9.0 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1300–1400 ppm, and temperature 25–26 °C. Moseleya are primarily photosynthetic and benefit from occasional target feeding with small meaty foods. Growth is very slow, so patience is essential. These are not corals you buy for rapid tank-filling — they are collector pieces appreciated for their rarity and Australian heritage.
Moseleya are peaceful corals that work well in mixed reef tanks. They are uncommon in the hobby and command collector interest whenever they appear for sale. Fragging is possible but rarely attempted due to their slow growth and scarcity. As a GBR endemic, Moseleya are already adapted to Australian water temperatures and conditions, making them excellent long-term residents when available. Support your local coral farms and retailers who propagate this uniquely Australian species.
